  • 52nd and Market Street, Oakland CA

Peter Webster, 60, was tragically killed while riding his bike near the intersection of 52nd and Market streets shortly before 6 p.m. The driver who hit Peter was unharmed, and no arrests were made.

Peter was the beloved owner of Guitar O Rama, nestled on Telegraph Avenue between 61st and 62nd streets. In his small shop, he dedicated himself to building and repairing guitars and amps, earning a reputation as a master craftsman and "most of all an incredibly nice and generous guy who loved music."

Peter's ghost bike went missing sometime after April 2011. A replacement will be installed.

This stretch of Market Street is particularly dangerous. Suzette McGrand-Benakki was killed just a few blocks away.
